The snow at the beginning of the week meant that I didn't do a solo run to the boat with the cushions.

Staying on board over the Easter weekend would have required two runs to the boat plus half a day of good weather to fit the running rigging so that the boom/mainsail/stackpack could be removed from the saloon and fitted.

The weather forecast wasn't very hopeful and the crew didn't want to waste her long weekend off so Wednesday evening was spent on the internet and 3 nights DB&B booked in an hotel.

Managed to squeeze the crew into a third of the back seat so delivered the cushions and ropes to the boat en-route. Driving up the Rest and be Thankful with the road white with hailstones on Thursday afternoon seemed to justify the decision.

Good Friday was dry and sunny ( but I bet that it was raining at Ardlui ) and the attached two photos were taken from the same [view] point during a run out in the car.

Last time we were there (right hand branch, top picture), you were making an engineless trip back to the Clyde as I recall......

Is it looking across towards Minard on the west side of upper loch Fyne? cant remember the name of the islands in the pic but if it is there,I fished from the bigger island a few years ago while out from Minard on Cheeky Charlie, my first 15ft Crossbow.

Both of you seem to be in the same area. Sorry but you’re both wrong.

Shard’s clue is too subtle for me so I don’t know if he’s right or wrong!

The first photos were taken during a day trip by car so the following photos might not help but should get you nearer the correct area.

Views from the breakfast table

Less pretty, but more recognisable.

Itsra Kyles of Bute - although the pic above is the Festering Wherries terminal at Hunters Quay.

I didn't want to break the suspense too early. Aja actually got the rght place, but the wrong road number...

Aja and Shard passed each other in the West Kyle (of Bute) about three, maybe four years ago. It was probably the last time we were on the Clyde/Fyne area. We were heading south down the Kyle, and Aja, who was having engine trouble, was sailing to Bowling (IIFRC) for repair.

I did wonder – the road number being the A8003. The viewpoint is at 555ft and BNG ref NS 000 776 - Lat: 55.949683N Long: 5.204727W [Datum: WGS84] – according to This Conversion.

http://getamap.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/get ... g=NS000776

As Webby says, the first photo is looking down the east leg of the Kyles of Bute and the second is looking down into Loch Riddoch.

Our berth for Thur/Fri/Sat night - we did make it to the boat on Sunday and slept on board.

We were all close - but the road is actually the B8003 and you were at the viewpoint. It's a great run in the car for a wet sunday afternoon. We were down at Kames fro the day and had a visit to Portavadie furra coffee 'n bun. Went along to the boat yard for a quick look with my older brother as new owner of Lassiette to check up that all was OK and wish him good luck with the boat. He's launching end May if all goes well.

Aja launches tomorrow..... 8)

Regards
Donald

Certainly were. On Good Friday we parked in the carpark in Tighnabruaich and walked along to the boatyard - found a couple of Vegas on the hard. We also had a run to Portavadie, but didn't splash out on a coffeee. Portavadie looks like a great place to go by water but seems a bit of a trek if you were to keep your boat there.

On Saturday, we walked up the road alongside Loch Striven from near the MOD Fuel Depot to the bit where the Maersk tankers are laid up.

Ash

PS - In a previous post I meant Loch Riddon, not Riddoch.
